company - history

1961

The company was established and based at the Rathenauplatz in Nuremberg. It was founded by the promotional expert Joachim Warm, sales executive Klaus Biedermann and architects Prof. Peter Biedermann and Werner Böninger. They formed Mobilia Biederman & Co. KG. The company was initially intended as a ‘studio’ or workshop for design-orientated furniture.

1964

The Mobilia-Basar was opened in Nuremberg at Fleischbrücke. This was the point of economic upswing when the company began to prosper and the time when the architect and designer Hans Hopfer joined the team. He started with the design and development of his own products, which were then completed by licence and to order.

1967

Mobilia Biedermann & Co.KG was relocated to Nuremberg’s Kaiserstrasse. The potential of the two firms was recognized.

1978

The company was subdivided into two groups: Mobilia Wohnbedarf (managing director Joachim Warm) and Mobilia Biedermann Co KG (managing director Klaus Biederman) which went under the marketing name of mobilia collection.

1983

Klaus Biederman and Peter Biederman left the firm, which was then taken over by Werner Dechand as managing director but now continued to operate under the name of mobilia collection Einrichtungsbedarf GmbH.

1986

Takeover of all shares through Werner Dechand

1990

mobilia collection was relocated to Burgthann near Nuremberg and expanded to provide more office space, larger storage areas and a show room.

2005

After the sudden death of Werner Dechand in November 2004, Andreas (the managing director) and Markus Dechand take over the company.
